Dr Arman Kamalzadeh
Arman is our seismic expert. After gaining a Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering and a Master’s in Earthquake/Structural Engineering with First Class Honours in his homeland of Iran, he worked for several years generating seismic retrofitting plans for hospitals, schools, and oil refinery structures back in Tehran.
To address a perceived disconnect between structural and geotechnical disciplines, he gained a PhD in soil-structures seismic response at the University of Auckland. Teaching the Foundation Engineering course and co-supervising four master’s projects developed his ability to train the next generation of Geotech engineers.
He brought his critical thinking and numerical analysis ability to Andy O’Sullivan in June 2020. Since then, he has been involved in designing and managing a wide range of geotechnical projects, from ground improvements and deep excavations to slope and working platform design.
